The commitment of police members to create a safer environment for the communities paid off with the detention of a 68-year-old man for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

Police members of the Anti-Gang Unit pursued information of firearms and ammunition stored at a residence in Strand. On Monday 23 June 2025, the members operationalised the information and tactically approached an address in Gulden Crescent. Upon entering the home at about 13:30 they searched the premises and in the process confiscated seven different calibre firearms and ammunition in a steel cabinet inside the house. Their search continued to the garage where they recovered two more firearms and ammunition which led to the detention of a 68-year-old man for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

Once charged the suspect is expected to make a court appearance in the Strand Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charge.
