After back and forth in court, former Minister Malusi Gigaba has successfully obtained a temporary court order to stop the airing of an interview conducted by Relebogile Mabotja with his ex-wife, Noma Mngoma, on the Showmax for the series “Untied.” The talk show dives into the often messy, always emotional world of divorce, told through the eyes of famous South African women who’ve been through it all.
The interview was said to share intimate details about their marriage, including allegations of infidelity, misuse of public funds, family feuds, and pornography addiction. The urgent interdict, granted on 24 June 2025, just hours before the show’s premiere, postpones the airing of Mngoma’s interview pending further legal proceedings. Gigaba’s legal argued that the content could cause irreparable harm to his reputation as a man, father, and public figure. Mngoma’s supporters claim the interdict stifles her right to share her story. Showmax has not commented on the matter, and the episode remains on hold as the court prepares to hear arguments in the coming weeks.

During their divorce, Mngoma said the divorce was not a big deal to her as it was peacefully settled in private. “When I approached Malusi earlier in the year, I said to him can we have a divorce for my reasons and I explained all the reasons why I wanted us to divorce and I wanted us to do it amicably and silently,” she said. However, she accused him of sharing the news with tabloids. She added that she wanted a peaceful divorce to protect her kids. This was previously arrested in July 2020 after allegedly causing extensive damage to a multimillion-rand Mercedes-Benz driven by Gigaba. Charges of crimen injuria and malicious damage to property against Mngoma were since dropped in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court in March this year.
