She has tried it before. In 2023, influencer Mihlali Ndamase quit drinking alcohol for 30 days before relapsing. “I did it. I’m at my happiest, at the peak of my productivity, and healthiest alcohol-free. I haven’t felt this good in months.

This has been by far the best decision I’ve made for my life,” she said at the time. This time, she vows it’s for keeps as she passes the 30-day mark.

In an industry where almost every event has alcohol, Mihlali said if she can pass one month, into the second month, she will try to go for a lifetime. “Alcohol takes away from my work and productivity. I spend a lot of money, it’s a waste of money,” she said. “I now wake up fresh and have more time to be productive with my work. If I can go for 30 days, I can go for another 30-day and a lifetime.”

Mihlali previously said she has seen people have fun without alcohol. “People can have fun without being drunk. Please don’t make me regret opening up to you guys. I did it for a month without being policed and I can do it for another month and another,” she said. “I know why I quit and what impact it’s had on my life. I don’t need discouraging remarks and yes, I am being sensitive about it because this is something that’s very close to my heart.”
