Trompies member and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member of Parliament Eugene Mthethwa, also known as Donald Duck has come under fire for alleged dubious music industry dealings by a colleague who is known to Buzz Life News but does not wish to be named as yet. “I am not afraid of him. I want people to digest what I am saying first.”

In a voicenote that is gaining traction on social media, and making rounds on two music industry groups, the colleague called Mthethwa corrupt and underhanded. “He has been chased out of many boards of directors. He is the one who committed fraud at Samro – getting his child to receive a bursary,” the colleague said. “He does that, even in the presidency he was dismissed. When Zuma came, he did some fraud there and got Blacklisted in the DTI. His record is bad,” the colleague added.

In 2022 Mthethwa was fearing for his life after an intruder was attempting to break into his car outside a Soweto-based restaurant. The Trompies member shot and killed the guy who had a screwdriver and he tried to attack him with it. “He jumped on me with the screwdriver. I thought he would recognise me and stop but he scratched my car.” The colleague says, the incident was “fishy” and needed further investigation. “Even in the time of Wits, he shot and killed someone and said that person attacked him with a screwdriver.” The colleague said he had no respect for Mthethwa. “He doesn’t respect artists and always wants to discredit artists. Always trying to take bread from people’s mouths. The colleague called him a waste. “This guy is destructive and the EFF doesn’t know they have taken such a lousy character, such a waste of sperm. I don’t care what he says. He is not starting now, he has been doing this for years. It’s high time we do something about him. He is a cancer to the industry.” The colleague concluded that he goes to funerals to bad-mouth people. “He talks all sorts of nonsense about artists as a parliamentarian. He disgusts me.” Mthethwa could not be reached for comment at the time of publishing.
