Netball South Africa has still not revealed the reasons behind the suspension of the president of Netball SA Cecilia Molokwane. In a shocking display of discontent, the Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts, and Culture highlighted a series of failures in governance, transparency, and accountability that they allege jeopardise the future of netball in the country.

Members of Parliament expressed their frustration, with the perceived inadequacies of the governing body’s officials. Molokwane was at the forefront of the committee’s scrutiny, as her leadership decisions and effectiveness came under fire. Her suspension raised questions about her long-term leadership following years of allegations regarding maladministration. She is accused of having a leadership style that contributes to a culture of complacency within the federation.

Recent reports have further revealed in a committee meeting led by NSA Vice President Mami Diale and CEO Modiegi Komane that there were missing financial statements and reports. Acting Director General Cynthia Khumalo said there was R90 million allocated to LOC for a tournament, and R30 million for three financial years. However this money has not been accounted for, said former LOC board member Lyndon Bouah. Molokwane has not availed herself for comment.
