A man (54) has been arrested in connection with the shooting that happened at Walter Sisulu University (WSU) recently.
The incident left one student dead and three injured. The suspect arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, 22 April.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana said the matter is still under investigation. “No further details will be released at this time to preserve the integrity of the case. Updates will be provided as appropriate.”
Students have come forward to name the man as a residence manager who they alleged opened fire during a service protest on the state of residences at WSU. It is alleged that after students confronted the res’ manager, he dismissed them, and they torched his car. This turned violent with his wife hit on the head and two students shot and injured.
