Ukhozi FM, the largest and most influential radio stations in Africa, is thrilled to announce the fifth and final iteration of the highly anticipated Winnie Mahlangu Female Presenter Search. This prestigious campaign, which has become a cornerstone of Ukhozi FM’s commitment to promoting female talent in broadcasting, is set to conclude this year.
Since its inception, in 2020, the Winnie Mahlangu Female Presenter Search has been a beacon of opportunity, empowering countless women and nurturing their careers in radio. Named after the iconic Winnie Mahlangu, the first female radio presenter that was permanently employed at Ukhozi FM in 1962, this campaign has not only celebrated her legacy but also inspired a new generation of female broadcasters.
As we embark on this final chapter, Ukhozi FM invites aspiring female presenters to seize this momentous opportunity by submitting their demos to Winnie@ukhozifm.co.za. Submissions of demos will close on 26 July 2024 at midnight, marking the last chance for participants to showcase their talent and passion for radio. The selection process promises to be rigorous, with a focus on finding a presenter who embodies the spirit and energy of Ukhozi FM.
Ukhozi FM Business Manager, Sbongi Ngcobo, commented, “As Ukhozi fm we are very proud of the talent we have unearthed through this campaign. The previous four winners of the Winnie Mahlangu Female Presenter Search are all scheduled as part of the station’s lineup. This speaks volumes to the type of talent we have discovered through this campaign. This has assisted us in being able to balance the scales between female and male on-air presenters at the station and in promoting equality. I encourage all up-and-coming presenters to grab this opportunity with both hands and enter. We are grateful to the Mahlangu family for allowing us to honour Mam’ Winnie in this way”.
The winner of the Winnie Mahlangu Female Presenter Search will be announced on 30 August 2024. This exceptional individual will join the ranks of Ukhozi FM’s esteemed presenters for a year in a developmental slot on Sundays between 03h00-18h00, contributing to the station’s rich legacy of edutainment and infotainment while promoting Zulu culture.
Ukhozi FM remains committed to engaging with our community and fostering local talent. We encourage all aspiring female presenters to submit their demos and become part of this historic moment. This final iteration is not just a conclusion but a celebration of the journey and achievements of all women in broadcasting.
