Imagine you could travel in time and wake up in the raving ’80s, the sturdy ’70s and even the revolutionary ’60s and get to step inside the cars that earned the decades their automotive nicknames. Imagine your friend could take colourful photos as you take one or two shiny rides for a spin and see what changes you could apply to the car’s engine with today’s technology. Imagine all of this was free!
That’s exactly what many will be doing at Aluta Nova, an exciting day at James Hall Museum on Saturday, May 25th, 2024. In line with International Museum Week, James Hall Museum will play host to Aluta Nova an event aimed at getting the youth to take ownership of this culture and heritage space. The event will showcase its valuable transport collection, artefacts and memorabilia. Through curated museum tours, participants and revellers will have the opportunity to explore an outdoor exhibition featuring an array of vintage cars that have stood the test of time, from different motor clubs and proud owner clubs. Additionally, the event aims to engage communities and tourists in discovering the city’s rich history and heritage while fostering a culture of museum visits.
The city calls this event Aluta Nova- a name which simply translated means New Struggle which in this case is that of getting the youth interested in that which is theirs. The city wants to encourage youth interested in cultural and heritage sites.
