The much-anticipated album of music maestro and multi-award-winning musician Selaelo Selota, titled PELONG, is set to be launched on Valentine’s Day at one of the most sought-after restaurants, Level Seven Restaurant & Sky Bar- perched at the top of Radisson Hotel in Kempton Park.
PELONG which is loosely translated as “In The Heart” consists of nine songs and Selota says it was inspired by the journey of life and which we all find ourselves in from “career, state of health, family, and love”.
“Songs in this album expresses love as experienced from childhood, love as experienced through adulthood and love as experienced through personal relationships. From the first song to the last one, there is a thread of this essence, “he says as he explains the reason Valentine’s Day was chosen to be the day for the launch.
This promises to be one memorable day to celebrate love in all its forms and music lovers are in for a great surprise. Selota, known for his soulful melodies and captivating performances, says his fans will get to see and experience him like they’ve never seen him before.
“My fans will experience what I can describe as The Full Circle, Selaelo Selota in spheres of the music, the business, the mentor and the performer,” he confidently says.
The legendary jazz musician Selota who has eight albums under his belt, wrote all songs in the album PELONG. And as part of his One Country Foundation, which also saw him launch One Country Concert in the year 2022, Selota decided to collaborate with some of the artists he has been mentoring in this latest offering.
“I have been finding and mentoring new artists that I have now featured, as a way of exposing them to the public and launching their music careers. The title track PELONG, features Tshego Rakgoale from Polokwane, Ga-Mothiba. Also featured in the album is a fantastic young singer from Seshego named Doyen and lastly Mahlatse Tshesane from Sekhukhune,” Selaelo explains.
