On the back of a successful inaugural event during the 2022 Mangaung Cultural Festival weekend, Sunset Groove continues to build on its meteoric momentum by announcing a strategic partnership with Trace TV for the 2023 event instalment.
The deal will see Trace TV, a multimedia platform dedicated to hip-hop & afro-centric cultures and creators’ success become the exclusive television partner for the Bloemfontein bred lifestyle event. “There’s not a lot of television coverage for central South Africa, especially on a lifestyle
eventing-level, this deal will help promote the arts and eventing within central South Africa. I am extremely elated because this partnership also presents the Trace TV team with an opportunity to connect with their fans and patrons within the Free State province” – said Nkokheli Lindazwe, founder of the Sunset Groove Lifestyle Event.

The inaugural Sunset Groove Lifestyle Event took place in October 2022 and became the first platform to bring the biggest urban podcast in South Africa, Podcast and Chill With MacG, to the Free State province. The event took place at the historic Naval Hill Nature Reserve, which is the only nature reserve in the world situated in the middle of a city. Sunset Groove seeks to be a catalyst in changing the way people view lifestyle events, especially in the Free State, Nkokheli affirms this view – “we need to evolve the way we do events, by exposing people to new things within the eventing space, hence the decision to bring the podcast to Bloemfontein last year. We knew that it was a big risk, especially because it was our inaugural event, however we were willing to take the risk because we aspire to shift the paradigm and
the risk paid-off because we saw over 2000 patrons supporting the event.”
The partnership with Trace TV will see Sunset Groove advertise their upcoming event on Trace Urban and Trace Africa weeks leading to the event, and the Trace team will be in Bloemfontein to cover the event after-movie, which would be broadcast once the event has taken place. “Trace remains committed to celebrating events that ensure inclusion and equality for all in the music industry. We are excited about partnering up with the Sunset
Groove Lifestyle Event team, especially in light of us celebrating 20 years of Trace” shared Trace’s Managing Director – Southern Africa & Lusophone Africa, Valentine Gaudin-Muteba.
This year’s event will take place at the Central University of Technology main campus (Hockey Field) in Bloemfontein on Saturday the 30th of September 2023, and the event is scheduled to starts at 14:00 till midnight. Tickets will be available at Ticket Pro ranging from R250 – R750.
The official full performance line-up will be announced and revealed through a television advertisement on Trace Urban and Trace Africa on the 4th of September , 2023.
