Mzansi rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and former manager Tebello Motsoane aka Tibz have been shot and killed outside Wish Restaurant on Florida Road, Durban on Friday night, 10 February around 22:30.
The 35-year-old rapper and 34 year old chef were standing outside the restaurant and about to walk to their car when two men approached them on foot and opened fire. SAPS says, “They were allegedly approached by two armed suspects who walked to them from across the street and shot the victims at close range.” AKA’s parents, Tony and Lynn Forbes, said in a statement seen by Buzz Life News that, “Our son was loved, and he gave love in return.” Police have yet to determine a motive for the shooting but are investigating.”
Tibz’s family also released a statement saying they are saddened by his passing. “To us, Tebello was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. To many he was Tibz Wa Bantwana, Chief of Cool, Summer Time Cool Creator, K1 K9, and the many other names of affection. Our son was loved and he gave love in return. As we come to terms with the devastating truth that our only son is no longer with us we appeal for your compassion, space and time to congregate as a family to decide on the upcoming days.” They said :“We thank you for the love and support we have received and ask you to continue to lift us up in prayer before the Lord.”
