Kicks Sportswear hands over cheque to veteran Actor Vusi Thanda
Kicks Sportwear has handed over a cheque of R30 0000 to Veteran Actor Vusi Thanda. This is following the footwear brand’s pledge to support the actor after he posted a video pleading for help on social media. Kicks had initially set out to host a charity event in honour of the actor, but have since opted to hand over a cheque to him.
Kicks Sportswear CEO and Founder says they’re happy to have contributed to Thanda’s plea for help.
“After much consideration and talks with uBab Vusi, we decided it would be best for us to opt out of hosting an event and have agreed to rather hand over a cheque of thirty thousand rands as our contribution to this legend. Although we would have loved to host the event as planned, this approach made more sense to everyone involved because the ultimate goal of this whole exercise was always to offer relief to uBaba.
We would like to also extend our gratitude to all the businesses and individuals who shared their willingness to avail themselves to support this very important initiative,” he said.
Vusi Thanda, who was overwhelmed by emotions of joy, accepted the cheque at the Kicks offices in Kempton Park.
“I am officially saying goodbye to poverty. I don’t want to touch a cent of this money but instead, I want to invest it because that was one mistake I made in the past,” says Thanda.
“I have learned my lesson and never want to misuse money again. Thank you to the Kicks team for standing by me through this very difficult time. May God bless all of you.”
