He encourages men to speak up about their issues affecting their mental health.
Actor and writer Simon Sayitsheni Mdakhi, 42, penned a heartfelt message on how he twice attempted to commit suicide. He advises men speak up and always try to find a reason to stay alive.

“In 2015 – Going through my divorce, I tried to take my own life, twice. This might come as a sock to a lot of you,” he says.
“I would feel so lonely in a room full of people, I would even give people advice on how to be strong and in turn ho home and contemplate my end.”

The former Isibaya actor says it was his children that kept him alive.

Sayitsheni’s message comes after it was reported that veteran actor Patrick Shai committed suicide in his garage at home in Dobsonville, Soweto. The tragic death came after a week of battling with social media bullying after initiating a #FavevsClout fight with rapper Cassper Nyovest. But after using foul language Cassper took offense.
Patrick was then attacked by fans, where he later apologised.
