She started the new year with gratitude after surviving a car crash.
Singer and songwriter Mpumi Somandla, real name Nompumelelo Claudia Mzobe, 39 is grateful to be alive after a terrible car accident.

The Ngize singer took to social media to share a video from the scene captioned, “This too shall pass. Thank you God. Be safe guys. Drive carefully out there guys! Thank God we are all safe.”

Mpumi’s music career blew up when she released the single Wena, a song about her life and her late father. The former SABC sound mixer, born in Ndwedwe, KwaZulu-Natal, life was not easy for Mpumi.

Her mother was a domestic worker and provided for her fur sibling after her father died. Later her family oved to Ntuzuma and she joined different music groups and later enrolled at the Durban University of Technology (Technikon Natal) to study video technology but after a year, she dropped out due to lack of funds. In 2002 she went back to school to mater her music talent before her big break.
