“The event was inspired by our desire to contribute to the resuscitation of the tourism industry,” says Lindiwe Pholo, CEO of Li’TheCa Eventique. “The Royal Polo Day is a vehicle for social impact and economic recovery through tourism. It is more than just another social and sporting event on the calendar. It also offers meaningful engagement with a progressive audience that has a taste for the finest lifestyle.”
In terms of social impact, The Royal Polo Day will introduce the sport of Polo to school children in and around the region through a coaching clinic to learn the basics of the game and a rare opportunity to watch a Polo exhibition match on Friday, 3 December 2021.
“The main event on Saturday, 4 December ’21, will feature three competitive Polo matches with one dedicated to increase awareness against gender-based violence and raise funds for GBV NGOs in Rustenburg,” adds Pholo. “Local SMMEs will also benefit from the event by either supplying goods and services to the production of the event or being afforded premium space to exhibit and sell their products on the day of the main event.”
Pholo reiterates that multiple experiences have been curated for patrons over the weekend. A pre-event evening cocktail function will kick-start the festivities on Friday, 3 December. The following day, the three Polo matches will entertain fans before the official after party begins which features Sjava, Serame Sediti, Shekhinah, Msaki, Kwesta, Kuli Chana and Black Motion. The presidential marquee will feature a fashion show curated by designers Kele Foko, The Divine Style and Orapelng.
The weekend will wrap up with a Monochrome-themed Sunday Social event providing for a relaxed afternoon of mingling under the ambience of soul and R&B music.
