Iconic South African pasta brand Fattis and Monis is taking the concept of the parody party to hilarious new heights with the launch of their Freedom Party. The live-streamed event was recorded in Houghton and streamed to the brand’s audience on Facebook & Instagram Live.
From the brand that gives you the freedom to create, comes a party that is focused on providing inspiration for people to cook the best pasta dishes in their homes. As with any political party, the Freedom Party’s cabinet has been carefully selected to deliver what the constituents of the republic need. Under the leadership of their president Unathi Nkayi (who is also known as a radio host, businesswoman and all-round media personality) the party has mandated different ministers to carry out their roles. There are no empty promises here; this is a party that delivers!
“Our party was formed by the needs of the people” says President Unathi Nkayi.
“We will not let our people down, we will delight their taste buds.”
The cabinet is made up of:
- Minister of Lifestyle – Les da Chef, who promises to give guidance on delivering the best experience when serving guests in your home, when preparing your everyday pasta dishes.
- Minister of Fine Dining – Former Executive Chef at The Saxon, owner of Marble and Saint restaurants, who will elevate our palettes to tastes previously unexplored
- Minster of Health, Phuti Moabelo, who promises to assist in not only looking after people’s tastebuds, but also their waistlines

These ministers will be supported by their HODs, who will be assisting in bringing the requirements of their portfolios to life. They are My Kitchen Rules finalist Pashi Reddy whose department is Fine Dining, Fitness influencer Juanita Khumalo on Health and Instagram foodie Beyond Bread on Lifestyle.
“We have decided to not only be observers, but also participants in forming our food democracy” says Thembi Sehloho, Marketing Director of Rice and Pasta at Tiger Brands South Africa. “Pasta is one of the most versatile ingredients in the kitchen, and our cabinet will be key in ensuring that our consumers get to uncover their hidden creativity and set their tastebuds free!”
The Fattis and Monis Freedom Party will be communicating with their constituents on social media, as well as their local grocery aisle.
Viva Freedom to Create, Viva!!!
