It’s celebrations and festivities as Ambitiouz Entertainment extends congratulations to the award-winning Afro-pop duo, Blaq Diamond for their hard work finally paying off.

On Monday, 15 March 2021, Ndumiso ‘Ndu Browns’ Mdletshe and Siphelele ‘Danya’ Dunywa affectionately known as Blaq Diamond were both bestowed with four plaques.

Each for their sophomore album, Umuthi and some of the singles that were taken out of the album namely: Ibhanoyi, and Love Letter plus their recent single, SummerYoMuthi which currently tops radio, TV, and digital charts. All this took place at an intimate surprise event held at the Riboville Boutique Hotel in Waterfall, Midrand.

The album’s current status is 6x platinum with over 23 million streams since it was released on the 31st of January 2020. It was barely two months after the album was released when South Africa went on lockdown, which prevented Blaq Diamond from promoting the album as wished. Seeing it reach these heights despite the Covid-19 regulations and lockdown, looms large. Love Letter has over 11 million streams with a 3x platinum status, SAMA Record of The Year, Ibhanoyi has reached 4x platinum with streams above 15 million, SummerYoMuthi sits on 2x platinum with over 8 million streams.

We believe that their exceptional artistry, being grounded hard-workers, and the passion they have for their craft have placed them where they are today. This being the first time Blaq Diamond have received plaques, it does not come as a surprise to the two 26-year-olds from Ladysmith.

“It is really not that much of a surprise to us that we received these plaques because we have been putting in the work. We have worked hard to be where we are today, and we feel like this is the time for us to shine. Shout out to all the people who have been supporting Blaq Diamond music. We are very happy that we got our plaques, the hard work is evident. Thank you to Ambitiouz and the Team behind us, we are grateful,” said the duo.

Founder and CEO of Ambitiouz Entertainment, Kgosi Mahumapelo gave a short speech before presenting the major plaque for the evening which is the Album plaque.

He said: “Blaq Diamond were the fastest signed acts in the history of Ambitiouz Entertainment, they were signed in 36 hours after we heard their first song. It shows that we did not make a mistake by signing them, and they did not make a mistake by trusting us. These guys keep on disappointing me, I am always waiting for them to be superstars to me, to start acting funny, to mistreat the Team or go on social media to say something negative, but they just keep on working like they just came into the industry yesterday.”

Ambitiouz Entertainment CEO says they are grateful to Blaq Diamond for working hard. The company is also thankful to AU Gold Vodka and Magents Wine for making sure that our guests are well served with top beverages throughout the evening. We congratulations the duo once again for the prestigious success, and we wish them all the best for 2021 and beyond.
