The lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak has affected many families and households. Many people have lost jobs and small businesses have suffered a lack of income during this time.
Springbok captain Siyamthanda Kolisi knows what it’s like to sleep on an empty stomach or having to ask neighbours for a helping hand.
The father of three recently visited his hometown of Port Elizabeth giving food parcels to families, some who knew from childhood and had shared their food with him while growing up.
“As a young boy some days we didn’t have food at home. And I would go from house to house with an empty cup asking for maize meal, beans anything that would feed my family and I for the night,” he wrote on social media.
“Yesterday, I was reminded of these stories from the same ladies that would fill my cup all those years ago, while delivering food that will fill their families for a month.”
He thanked the families for their support and kindness.
