Veteran investigative journalist and television presenter Devi Sankaree Govender is preparing to close a chapter of her television career, with The Devi Show set to wrap up its linear run on eTV on 11 October 2026.
Govender announced the news, reflecting on three decades in television and the six years she has spent fronting the investigative programme, which has become associated with her direct questioning and confrontational interviews.
“30 years on television. Six years of The Devi Show. And now, a new chapter,” she said.
A new chapter for Devi
While the show’s broadcast run is coming to an end, Govender has indicated that she is not stepping away from the public eye or her work.
“The Devi Show wraps up its linear eTV run on 11 October. I’m going where you are. And there’s a lot more to Devi than you’ve seen on TV,” she said.
Her message suggests that audiences can expect to see more of her beyond the traditional television format, although she has yet to publicly detail her next move.
A message for her critics
Known for her investigative approach and hard-hitting interviews, Govender also had a pointed message for those who may see the show’s conclusion as a reason to celebrate.
“To my dear crooks – don’t celebrate too early – I’m moving to a bigger space and I have very interesting plans for ‘us’,” she said, adding a heart emoji.
The remark signals that her next chapter could continue to involve the kind of accountability-focused journalism that has defined much of her career.
Thirty years in television
Govender has built a career around investigative reporting, tackling controversial subjects and questioning people in positions of power. The end of The Devi Show’s linear broadcast run marks a change for the programme, but her announcement leaves open the possibility of a new platform and a different way of reaching audiences.
For now, 11 October marks the end of the show’s run on eTV – and, if Govender’s message is any indication, not the end of her story.
