After more than three years of gripping storylines, action-packed drama and powerful performances, e.tv’s acclaimed drama series Isitha: The Enemy will come to an end on 23 April 2027.
The series holds a unique place in e.tv’s drama legacy as the only legacy drama from the previous generation still on the channel. Its conclusion marks a significant moment as e.tv prepares to usher in a new era of storytelling.
The drama was born from the success of The Black Door in 2023, transforming its world and characters into Isitha: The Enemy. Since then, it has established its own identity while drawing audiences into stories of family, betrayal, ambition, power and survival.
A celebrated run
During its run, Isitha: The Enemy has earned recognition at major industry awards, including the South African Film and Television Awards and the Royalty Soapie Awards.
The series has received wins and nominations across categories including Best Achievement in Original Music/Score – Telenovela, Best Achievement in Cinematography and Outstanding Light Direction.
Helga Palmer, Group Head of Content Development & Strategy at eMedia Investments, said the series had played an important role in the broadcaster’s storytelling journey.
“Isitha: The Enemy has been an important part of e.tv’s storytelling journey, and we are incredibly proud of the impact it has made. As a spinoff of The Black Door, to becoming a powerful story in its own right, the series has entertained audiences, introduced memorable characters and demonstrated the strength of South African storytelling.”
She said the ending would also signal the beginning of a new phase for the channel.
“As we prepare to close this chapter, we are also looking ahead with excitement. e.tv is entering a new wave of drama, bringing compelling stories, with a healthy mix of accomplished and new talent to our audiences. The conclusion of Isitha: The Enemy is not simply an ending, but a reflection of our commitment to continually evolve and give viewers stories that surprise, move and engage them.”
The final chapter promises more drama
With the final episode approaching, viewers can expect the series to maintain the intensity that has defined it throughout its run.
The upcoming storyline will focus on the Bulldozed storyline, where the destruction of shacks threatens to destabilise lives and communities. The developments are expected to trigger conflict, heartbreak and consequences for the characters.
Death, unexpected twists and new faces are also still to come, ensuring that the road to the finale remains unpredictable.
Mandla N, Co-Founder and Executive Producer of Black Brain Pictures, said the journey began by expanding the world of the Sokhulu family beyond The Black Door.
“Creating Isitha: The Enemy has been an incredible journey. We took the world of the Sokhulu family from The Black Door and opened it up into a new chapter, giving ourselves the opportunity to explore new characters, conflicts and stories while building something that could stand on its own.”
He added that the response from audiences and industry recognition had been meaningful to everyone involved.

Kabelo Motsilanyane joins the drama
As the series heads towards its conclusion, acclaimed actress and musician Kabelo “KB” Motsilanyane is also joining the cast as Dineo Mtshali.
Dineo is introduced as a beautiful, elegant and fiercely independent fashion designer from Soweto who has spent years building a life away from the chaos of her past.
She commands respect without demanding it, speaks her mind without apology and refuses to be intimidated.
Her arrival, however, is expected to bring a new energy – and plenty of drama – into Mapholoba’s world.
A goodbye that opens a new door
As e.tv prepares to bid farewell to Isitha: The Enemy, the broadcaster says audiences can look forward to new characters, fresh perspectives and compelling stories.
The end of the series represents more than a finale. It marks the celebration of a drama that has left its mark on South African television while creating space for what comes next.
