A new chapter begins. The Miss South Africa 2026 competition has moved into its next phase, with the Top 19 finalists officially revealed by television personality, actress and entrepreneur Minnie Dlamini.

Dlamini unveiled the finalists on Wednesday, 19 August, after the original Top 24 was narrowed down following a rigorous judging process. The contestants were assessed through interviews, personal storytelling and purpose-driven presentations, with the focus extending beyond beauty to leadership, vision and social impact.

The judging panel included entrepreneur and Pandora Health CEO Dr Aisha Pandor, Miss South Africa 2020 Shudufhadzo Musida and Business Engage CEO Colleen Larsen. The selection process was independently audited by PwC.

Meet the Top 19

The finalists come from seven provinces and include women working across fields such as healthcare, technology, architecture, media, business, sport and the creative industries.

Among them is KwaZulu-Natal’s Alia Khan Koumantarakis, a filmmaker and published author who advocates for literacy and creative empowerment.

Gauteng’s Amogelang Bunu is a speech therapist and audiologist and former Junior World Karate Champion, while Bonolo Marang Motau is a three-time Wits graduate pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration and championing educational access and digital inclusion.

Cwenga Koyana Kotu-Rammopo, also from Gauteng, co-founded Talitha Together and has worked with pregnant girls and adolescent mothers, while North West representative Ipeleng Pearl Madiba is an archaeologist passionate about African identity and heritage education.

The Gauteng contingent also includes candidate architect Katlego Malebye, fitness coach Kaylan Matthews from the Eastern Cape, Western Cape sports scientist Kendra Norah Horne and healthcare advocate and entrepreneur Lesego Khumo Nyathela.

KwaZulu-Natal musician and philanthropist Makhosazana Azana Masango is also through to the next stage, alongside Gauteng journalist Modiegi Mashamaite, Mpumalanga agriculture master’s student Ndiwanga Muravha and Free State medical doctor Palesa van Rooyen.

The remaining finalists are pharmacist Sanelisiwe Diko, actuarial associate Simoné Nonhlanhla Tshituka, architect and teacher Sunshine Dlangamandla, investment specialist Tebogo Palesa Molatlhegi, communications professional Tiyani Makamu and young entrepreneur and author Zoalize Jansen van Rensburg.

Public vote secures final spot

Diko earned the final position after winning the public vote, making her the Fan Favourite.

The Eastern Cape contestant is a pharmacist with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Rhodes University and advocates for healthcare access and health literacy, particularly in underserved communities.

More than a crown

The Top 19 will now continue developing their individual initiatives through Empower Youth Africa, the Miss South Africa Organisation’s flagship impact platform.

Their projects cover areas including education, entrepreneurship, youth development, healthcare, wellness, civic participation and Pan-African collaboration.

Miss South Africa Organisation Patron and Chairperson Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe said the competition was increasingly focused on developing women who could create meaningful change beyond the pageant.

“Miss South Africa has entered an era of leadership, focused on creating meaningful impact at scale,” she said.

“We are committed to developing every contestant, not only the winner.”

Moloi-Motsepe added that the organisation was “cultivating a generation of women” prepared to lead, influence and drive change beyond the crown.

With the Top 19 now confirmed, the Miss South Africa 2026 journey moves closer to the crowning of the country’s next titleholder, with the finalists expected to use the next stage to further showcase their leadership, purpose and social impact.
