Last week, Podcast and Chill presenters Macgyver ‘MacG’ Mukwevho and Sol Phenduka were in hot water after making Transphobic comments on their show. This resulted in them losing a sponsor from Old Mutual.

Podcast and Chill brought Transgender Activist Yaya Mavundla on the show to discuss some of their wrongs.

Sol and MacG have since apologised for the Transphobic jokes made on the show.
“The LGBTQI+ community faces enormous challenges and violence in our societies. The hate, unfair treatment, and judgment are but a few issues that the LGBTQI+ community faces. As people of influence, we oath to be very careful on how we use the influence we have not to promote any kind of mistreatment and derogatory statements or slur to anyone regardless of their sexual orientation,” they wrote.

“We do take complete responsibility and accountability for being insensitive, ignorant, and offensive. Out of this experience, we have been able to learn and educate ourselves about social issues and to know where we must draw the line from what is expressed as a joke and when a ‘joke’ infringes upon someone else’s freedom. As people we all learn from our mistakes and accept every kind of criticism, take accountability and use the situation as a lesson.”

On the next episode of Podcast & Chill they dedicate to teaching society about issues of the LGBTQI+ community to also educate others who may have not seen any offense from our actions.

“We truly value all of your support and appreciate our chillers to call us out. To the LGBTQI+ community, our clients, Chillers and business partners, we extend our apologies once again. Podcast and Chill indeed could have done better and thus taking full responsibility for the insensitive comments and ignorance. We have since removed the part where this statement was made indefinitely from the episode as we commit ourselves to correct the wrongs.”
