Award-winning Maskandi artist Khuzani Mpungose has announced that his album Inhlanhla Izanebhadi has within almost over a week already achieved significant national traction within days of its launch.

He reveals how Inhlanhla Izanebhadi is the force behind his Eevolution.

The project is generating strong early metrics across digital platforms and has reinforced Khuzani’s position as one of the most commercially consistent and culturally influential musicians in South Africa.

The release comes shortly after Khuzani’s international recognition at the Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards (HAPAwards) in the United States, where he won Best Traditional Artist. The award marked a career-defining milestone and expanded his footprint in global cultural music markets.

The album itself reflects a year of personal pressure, transition and maturity. Khuzani says the project was shaped by real situations that demanded introspection and emotional discipline. The title track, Inhlanhla Izanebhadi, became the emotional anchor of the album and the most difficult song to record due to its personal relevance.

The project features collaborations that deepen its narrative intention. Qoka Kahle featuring Londeka Shangase, NisheShe Nangijaja with Luve Dubazane, and Angibulalanga Nyoka featuring Thibela were selected for their ability to carry the emotional weight and cultural resonance of the album. Each partnership strengthens the themes that Khuzani wanted the project to explore.

Early performance indicators point to a highly successful rollout. Inhlanhla Izanebhadi has already accumulated millions of streams across major platforms, while the lead single Umanikinikana reached one million YouTube views in its first week. The album has also charted strongly on Apple Music, placing it among the most consumed South African releases of the season.

“Inhlanhla Izanebhadi is a direct reflection of the year I’ve had,” Khuzani says.

“The HAPAwards win showed me how far Maskandi has travelled, and it motivated me to record from a real and honest place. Every song represents a genuine moment in my life.”

With festival season underway, Khuzani has begun preparing for national performances as demand from promoters increases. Audiences have responded strongly to the new material, driven by anticipation to experience the project live.

“This album shows the direction Maskandi is moving toward,” he adds. “We are carrying tradition forward while opening the genre to new spaces.”
