New chapter
Masemola has not revealed the identity of her unborn child’s father, keeping that aspect of her pregnancy private.
The announcement comes years after her highly publicised separation from filmmaker Mandla Ngcongwane, popularly known as Mandla N, with whom she shares two daughters.
The pair were together for 16 years and built a life together as romantic and business partners, including their work with Black Brain Pictures and music group Gang of Instrumentals.
Their split was emotionally difficult for Masemola, who described the experience as “traumatic” in a previous interview.
Although their relationship was widely referred to as a marriage and divorce, Masemola later clarified that they had paid lobola but had never legally registered a marriage. Their separation was also followed by a public dispute over money linked to their business affairs. Following their separation, Masemola and Mandla N’s relationship was followed by a public dispute involving money and their business affairs. The former couple had worked together through Black Brain Pictures, the production company behind several television projects, and their shared professional ties added another layer to their split.
In 2017, Ngcongwane reportedly filed a R2.2 million court claim against Masemola, accusing her of withdrawing the money from their business account without authorisation.
Masemola later disputed the theft allegations, explaining in a 2025 interview that she believed she was entitled to 50% of the money because of their business partnership. She said the absence of a shareholders’ agreement complicated her position when the matter went to court, and that her accounts were frozen before she moved back in with her mother. The dispute unfolded alongside the breakdown of their 16-year relationship.
