Former Generations: The Legacy actress and Coca Cola Popstars singer Zoe Mithiyane has reportedly been fired from a production after allegedly being intoxicated on set during filming.
A source who worked with her on the production, Not a Minor (Too Many Chiefs), shot by Noon Talk Publishing, revealed to Buzz Life News that the ex-lover of Grammy-winning composer Lebo M was dismissed after several warnings and disciplinary issues linked to arriving late on set, allegedly reeking of alcohol and at times still under the influence.
“What a lovely woman, but also troubled,” the source said.
“She had to be written off the script. We were shooting in Hogsback and she would sometimes not wake up on time and get up after two hours and end up almost falling asleep on set,” the source added.
“She would ask her lines. She drank R1 800 wine at the Hogsback Inn bar, and she didn’t pay the bill.”
The source further alleged that Zoe admitted to having a spiritual calling and often used “snuff” on set.
“She is a lovely woman however. We all make mistakes. She is human. She is a great actress,” the source said.
In earlier reports, Zoe was allegedly arrested for driving under the influence.
In a recent episode of the Engineer Your Life podcast, Mithiyane opened up about her “toxic” relationship with Lebo M. She also spoke about alleged love bombing and the breakdown of their relationship.
Lebo M has since long moved on and married actress Nomoya “Moya” Dube.
Zoe’s career on TV, music, theatre and international stage productions spans over a decade. She rose to national prominence when she was pat of the group that won the singing competition on Coca Cola popstars and formed singing group – Adilah in 2022. Her role as Zitha Langa on the SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy cemented her status as a household name. Outside television, she has also built a strong reputation as a singer, having performed in major productions including The Lion King stage musical, where she gained international exposure.
Zoe could not be reached for comment.
