Two suspects, aged 22 and 23, have been arrested for armed robbery and possession of an imitation firearm at Mokwallo, Vredefort.
It is alleged that on Saturday, 27 December 2025, at about 18:30, a 36-year-old victim was walking in Mapetla section, Mokwallo, when two males approached him, pointed a firearm at him, and took his cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on foot.
On Monday, 29 December 2025, Vredefort detectives and Fezile Dabi District Trio Task Team members received information regarding the suspects involved in the armed robbery. Acting on this information, the members apprehended the two suspects, who were found in possession of an imitation firearm, a BLOW blank gun suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime, and the victims cellphone was recovered.
The two suspects are expected to appear before the Vredefort Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of armed robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.
