A total of 35 business premises were searched during the operation and several clothing items, accessories and perfumes were seized.
The estimated value of the seized items is R115 million. This seizure is a major step in disrupting the flow of illicit goods, further actions are expected as investigation continues.
As part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the illicit trade industry, the Western Cape Counterfeit, and Illicit Goods Unit in collaboration with brand protectors conducted an operation along Durban Road and Bellville station shopping Centre yesterday, 16 December 2025. This operation targeted various business premises, suspected of selling counterfeit goods.
SAPS management in the Western Cape condemns illicit trade in the strongest possible terms. It is a blatant disregard for the law, and our members will not hesitate to act against those who seek to profit from it.
