Alexandra township is about to light up with rhythm, love, and purpose as Freedom To Dance 99, in collaboration with Alex FM’s The Beat with Lord_Aluta & Busifinesse, brings you an electrifying cultural and social movement unlike any other.
Born out of the need to celebrate the unstoppable rise of Women DJs, Freedom To Dance 99 is more than just an event — it’s a movement. A year after The Beat made a bold commitment to spotlight female DJs — giving more than 20 women a platform to shine on air — the moment has come to take radio to the streets and give back to the community that supports it all.
This groundbreaking celebration will transform New Lounge into a pulse of performance and purpose. Expect an unforgettable lineup of powerhouse talent featuring Gino Brown, Mough Mokgerehli, Sipho-Cga Bopha and Masebe, alongside firestarters Nobantu Vilakazi, Thick Rebel, Princess Xtreme, Boontle RSA, the legendary DJ Cuebur, and heavy-hitters Offixial RSA and Bezo — all bringing Alexandra to life with music, dance, and unity.
The day will kick off with a special Community Address by Alex FM Station Manager, Takalane Nemangowe, marking the beginning of Women’s Month in a powerful and meaningful way.
But this event isn’t just about entertainment — it’s about impact. With the support of Studio 411, Radisson Blu Sandton Hotel and Albany, the community will be served warm soup and fresh bread nourishing both body and spirit.
Join us as we show Alex some love, amplify women’s voices, and dance for a cause that moves us all.
Brought to you by:
Alex FM, Tharific, More Love Global, Studio 411, Albany, New Lounge (12th Avenue, Alex), and Radisson Blu Sandton Hotel.
