For the past 18 years, Mbuzeni Mkhize has emerged not only as a celebrated guitarist and musician but also as a formidable producer in the world of maskandi music. Mbuzeni announces new album and releases Ababizi Bengoma single featuring Mthandeni SK calling for peace in Maskandi industry.

Having just concluded a Netherland Tours, Maskandi musician and producer, Mbuzeni announces the release of his 15th album release titled, “Izilotshi” – he took to his social media, announcing the tracklist and releasing 2 singles, “Izilotshi” and “Ababizi Bengoma.”

With a reputation that resonates both locally and internationally, Mkhize’s journey from humble beginnings to musical stardom is a testament to his talent and perseverance.

His latest album, “Izilotshi”, marks a significant milestone as his 15th release, showcasing some of his most profound work yet. This 12-track masterpiece not only highlights his musical capabilities but also features a heartfelt collaboration with his father, Mbizo Mkhize, who introduced him to the guitar and keyboard during his formative years. In a touching homage, Mbizo plays the concertina, or “inkostina” on the title track, Izilotshi. Another highlight songs is, “Ababizi Bengoma” which features Mthandeni SK with a call for peace and the to the violence in the Maskandi industry – both of these songs have been release as a singles ahead of the full album release on 4 July 2025.

To create this exceptional album, Mbuzeni assembled a host of talented ensemble of musicians, including Madoda Ntsingila on bass guitar, JJ Mbuthuma on keyboards, and concertina players Mafesi Khumalo and Ernest Shelembe. The title “Izilotshi” translates to “beautiful things,” reflecting Mbuzeni’s appreciation for his roots and the musical legacy passed down from his father.
