Rising star Tumi Trent Tladi passes on.
The Johannesburg based artist, entrepreneur, dancer, choreographer, producer, rapper, songwriter, videographer danced his way onto the entertainment scene from the age of 11 back in 2004. His unique blend of South African style dance moves, fused with his international experience in the art has earned him the respect and appreciation as one of the best choreographers in the world.
Tumi is the son of Peter Tladi who started T-Musicman in 1989 with the vision of growing South Africa’s live music scene into a vibrant and dynamic sector of the music industry. Peter Tladi cut his teeth in the record industry, first working as a PR manager at the then RPM Records.
Tladi has worked with Cassper Nyovest. He released his first big single called “You ain’t shh”. The song made its rotation on radio and tv and that introduced him fully into the industry and caught promoters eyes.
He released his debut album distributed by Universal Music. It’s clear to see that his grown so rapidly in 4 years of making music and the growth keeps coming as the entertainment industry supports him more and more.
Tladi grew up in a home filled with music and performance entertainment, he is after all son of legendary South African promoter and concert impresario Peter Tladi.
He received training at Johannesburg’s Danceweb under the mentorship of Craig Bullock, he impressed the city’s hard-to-please critics at shows big and small. In 2012 however proved to be a turning point. Having just landed in Los Angeles, observers blinked twice as Tumi stole the show doing a music video for Hollywood actor and singer, Will Smith and actress Jada Pinkett Smith’s children Willow and Jaden.
With his dance and choreography swag getting sharper, Tumi’s music bug began to swell in him. Always rearing to act on an urge, Tumi got writing and creating, culminating the release of his debut single CD and video album titled Punchline in 2015.
It was becoming clearer that song and dance are now amplifying each other, and with talents covering both Tumi is well placed to delight lovers of entertainment..
