Convicted killer Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp’s father Barry Steenkamp recently met for a victim-offender dialogue in Gqeberha at the he Steenkamp hometown.
Pistorius shot and killed his former model girlfriend nine years ago, after shooting her four times through a locked bathroom door in the early hours of Valentine’s Day in 2013.
The Steenkamp family’s attorney, Tania Koen, said the dialogue is a private and confidential matter, “Hence we ask that our clients’ privacy be respected.”
The Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation also confirmed the meeting on a post on Facebook stating, “We extend our love and support to Barry and June who participated in the process in preparing them for a meeting with Oscar Pistorius. Barry ultimately met with Oscar on 22 June 2022 for the Victim Offender Dialogue. A word of sincere gratitude to the Department of Correctional Services, especially the staff at St Albans Prison, for facilitating the process in a sensitive and professional manner.”
The Blade Runner was sentenced to more than 13 years in prison in 2015 after he claimed he mistook her for an intruder in their home.
