When asked whether she bewitched him after they separated, she said, “Yes. I gotta take credit for that though,” she says.

“Let’s not say ke moloyile. It’s the thing of thinking you know better when I have helped you. When you are now on that pedestal, you think you know. You come out and play for a weak-ass team. I am busy with you, doing cleansings and rituals with you, and you get a good contract. I get pregnant, we move in together and all is well. Dr. Maweni explained the reasons why she would use dark magic on anyone.
“A lot of people think they can come to me to ask me to bewitch someone, but that’s not the case. I need to ask my ancestors first before I can do anything. I need to check if there really is an issue and is it possible. If my ancestors say it’s not possible, then I don’t do it.”
Dr. Maweni says women do come to her to ask her to bewitch their men but she does not always do it.
“I don’t filter my job. I also heal and cleanse people who have been bewitched. It’s part of what we do. I respect my ancestors I don’t want to be punished for things I don’t know. They have brought me here and built me up when I lost my car, my job, and my house. I had to move back home, she says.
Before all consultations, all appointments go through her assistant.
“I have an assistant; nobody speaks to me directly without speaking to my assistant. The stories are told to my assistants.”
Dr. Maweni also says she owns five snakes, one owl, two rabbits, two tortoises, and three dogs but does not use them for witchcraft.
“I love animals. I don’t use these for anything. “
