This year’s season of IdolsSA saw the biggest volume of votes being cast, 186 million to be precise, over the duration of the competition. It trended at number one on social media every Sunday.
Singer and IDOLS SA 15 winner Luyolo Yiba’s latest single titled Asoze hits the music scene by storm. Collaborating with Singer, and producer Nhlonipho Dlamini, the duo ventured into the Amapiano space.
Inspired by his journey of different emotions endured during the COVID pandemic, Luyolo (27) and Nhlonipho have created a soothing yet vibey sound of Amapiano decent.
On Asoze, Luyolo vows to continue striving to reach his full potential no matter the complications he faces in life. He also encourages his fans to believe in soldiering on even in the toughest times.

Once compared to international singing mega star John Legend for his soulful voice, Luyolo’s fans reception of the first male winner of the competition since 2015 is continuing to grow on social media.
His debut pop single, ‘Sunshine Through the Rain’ (2019) garnered much attention and the Youtube audio received over 156 thousand views as well as the music video to match receiving over 94 thousand views within a few weeks of taking the Idols SA title. It also sat at number 2 on the Apple Music charts after its release.

Luyolo leans towards Afro-Soul and Adult Contemporary in his musical selection, however, shares that he is not really genre oriented but rather uses his creativity in just making music despite genre. This makes him quite a versatile artist.
He was awarded an Acknowledgement Award at the 4th Annual Eastern Cape Music Awards (ECMAS) as well as a Special Award at the 2019/2020 Eastern Cape Provincial Arts & Culture Award ceremony.
Hailing from Qonce former King William’s Town, in the Eastern Cape, Luyolo has shared stages with many of South Africa’s greatest artists such as Cassper Nyovest, Vusi Nova, Dj Zintle, Busiswa, Samthing Soweto and Ami Faku to name a few.
