As we get closer to e.tv’s biggest show launch on 19th July, House of Zwide is set to showcase some of South Africa’s biggest stars as well as introducing new faces to our television screens.
South Africa can expect to see some of their favourite stars such as Vusi Kunene, who plays SA’s biggest fashionista, founder, and owner of House of Zwide, Funani Zwide, and Winnie Ntshaba plays his supportive wife, Faith Zwide.
The flamboyant and talented Khaya Dladla, 31, plays Lazarus, Funani Zwide’s life-long confidante and responsible for interpreting and executing his designs. He is always immaculately groomed and obsessed with neatness and order; he takes no-nonsense.
“I was excited when asked to play Lazarus. I could not turm the offer down because it is what South African television has been missing; drama and suspence,” Khaya tells Buzz Life News.
Khaya is for his role of a beautician, GC on the SABC1 soapie Uzalo. It was his first professional television acting role, despite having performed in theatre since the age of nine. Originally from Umlazi, he studied marketing and media courses at college. Working primarily in theatre, he has also been a backing vocalist for musicians such as Hugh Masekela, Salif Keita and Thandiswa Mazwai. Khaya made his television debut in the role a choir member on the SABC1 soapie Uzalo, making his first appearance in the series premiere on 9 February, 2015.
In 2016 Khaya was the featured guest on an episode of the SABC1 music talk show Zaziwa which aired on 19 May (Season 4, Episode 8). He was also one of the presenters at the SABC1 New Year’s Eve bash Come Duze.
He was named as one of the three presenters (with The Naked DJ and Tbose Mokwele) of the BET talk show The Man Council which gives both men and women an opportunity to tap into the mind of men on some of the topical and relevant trends and views on love, relationships and sex.
On House of Zwide viewers’ favourite Motlatsi Mafatshe will play the comedic Uncle Molefe. The talented Mafatshe will bring moments of humour to the show and qualities that South Africa has fallen in love with over the years.
The Godfather, Isaac, played by Jeffrey Sekele is our sympathetic gangster and former Umkhonto we Sizwe veteran involved in the turbulent hostel wars during the mid-90s. Isaac is a loving father to two beautiful daughters and a husband to Rea played by Matshepo Maleme.
Some of the new faces on the show will include exciting young talent in Nefisa Mkhabela, who makes her television debut and lead as Ona Molapo while Shalate Sikhabi plays her friend, Shoki. They both navigate the fashion world with challenges in their path.
House of Zwide will premiere on e.tv, Openview Channel 104, and DStv Channel 194 from Monday, 19th July at 7 PM.
