The Recording Industry of South African (RiSA) has appointed Lesley Mofokeng as the spokesperson for the SA Music Awards (SAMA26) with immediate effect.
Mofokeng is a renowned former entertainment journalist and editor who worked for the Sunday Times, City Press and Sowetan newspapers in an illustrious 21 year long career. He is also a published author of several books and a popular-culture commentator who has featured on a few radio stations and TV programmes.
Having served as a judge for the SAMA for years, he brings a good understanding of the industry and the processes involved.
Mofokeng comments: ‘It is an incredible honour for the SAMA to entrust me with this responsibility. I have long been passionate about the local entertainment industry, especially music, and I look forward to working with the teams behind SAMA26 to make it a success.’
RiSA CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi says: ‘We are absolutely delighted to welcome Lesley to the team in this capacity. I have no doubt that he will do us proud and we wish him all the best.
