South Africa’s beloved songstress Lira is making a triumphant return to the stage with a one-woman show at the Lyric Theatre on April 18th.

“It’s been 6 years since I’ve performed at the Lyric Theatre,” she tells Buzz Life News. “I love the fact that it offers the intimacy I’d like for the show.”

After suffering a stroke in Germany in 2022 that left her unable to speak, read, or write, Lira spent almost four years rebuilding her life.

“I’m going to tell my story through music and movement, and it’s going to be an entertaining yet powerful and healing experience!” she declares.

Fans can expect an intimate journey of music and dance, featuring iconic hits in English, Zulu, and Sotho. “I am able to move my body rhythmically again… and I can now move freely and confidently,” she shares. “This is a story of triumphant healing,” Lira adds.

“No matter what you go through, you can emerge stronger. All is well if you have life in your veins and breath in your lungs.”

She’ll also premiere new music, a product of her long recovery journey. Tickets for Lira: ‘Still Here’ are available through Webtickets from R375. The show promises an evening of resilience, joy, and the unstoppable spirit that has made Lira a national treasure.
