He was the driver and road manager to Mampintsha, Babes Wodumo, and Durban trio Big Nuz. In 2015 Sbu “R Mashesha” Khomo passed after a short illness. He continued to work with Mampintsha as a road manager.

Captain, real name Siphamandla Mathebula is a Gqom vocalist who showed interest in music despite being a driver some years ago. Mampintsha died on December 24 from complications after a stroke.

According to Mampintsha’s widow Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Simelane, Captain is copying Mampintsha and wants to be like him. She says this is despite Mampintsha talking him out of the music business as he called it a “dog eat dog” business when he was still alive. But he continued to make music after Mamintsha’spassing. “He wants to be Mampintsha. He is copying his style. He was his driver. He knows and everyone knows he is a copycat,” she said. Captain refused to comment on the matter.
