After nearly walking away from his music career, emerging urban traditional gospel artist Khutjo Malete has made a triumphant return with the release of his two-track EP, featuring songs Sokologang and Glory, which officially dropped on 13 February 2026.
An inspired vocalist, skilled songwriter, and refined arranger, Malete’s music resonates with spiritual depth and intentional purpose. His sound is rooted in urban traditional gospel, marked by simple arrangements and clear, heartfelt messages that speak directly to the soul.
In Glory, featuring Takesure Zama, Malete delivers a message that transcends borders, incorporating the Shona language of Zimbabwe to reach a wider audience. Sokologang, meaning “repent” in Sepedi, carries a deeply personal message, shared through music as a form of ministry.
“Sokologang was inspired by Matthew 3:1–3, and Glory draws from Psalm 115. While Glory is not entirely a new composition, its verses are rooted in scripture,” Malete explains.
“This project represents a second chance for me. I had reached a point where I almost gave up on music completely, but this EP is proof that purpose always finds its way back.”
Growing up in Strydkraal A in a God-fearing family shaped his understanding of God and ignited his love for ministry. Everything he does — whether performing or writing — comes from that foundation, and he remains committed to staying true to himself.
“In 2015, I wanted to challenge myself and step beyond the church environment. Having people who believed in me made that transition easier. My professional ministry is an extension of my church experience. The church is where my calling began, and my music simply continues that mission.”
