A police impersonator, Sinki Lukas Msiba (52) was remanded in custody for further investigation when he appeared in the Bloemhof Magistrate’s Court, on Wednesday, 19 November 2025. He will reappear on Monday, 08 December 2025.

Msiba arrived at Bloemhof police station on Tuesday evening, 18 November 2025, and introduced himself as a Colonel and working in Pretoria. He allegedly requested to be transported to Bultfontein, as his vehicle had breakdown in Warrenton. The vigilant members questioned Msiba, conducted a preliminary investigation and eventually established that the accused was not a police officer. He was immediately placed under arrest.

The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner of the North West, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, commended the police for their vigilance, which led to the arrest. He said this comes amid regular calls by impersonators who attempt to access vital and sensitive information from police stations and that the arrest will certainly convey a message that the police will not hesitate to take drastic steps against those who want to abuse state resources.
