A 36-year-old man has been arrested for nine cases of rape and robbery at KwaDukuza, Mandeni and Tongaat.
The suspect and his accomplice were targeting females in various areas and threatened them with a knife before they would rob and rape them.
Their victims were aged between 15 and 37 years when they were raped.
On 28 January 2013, a 21-year-old woman was walking near a bridge in Darnall when she was approached by two unknown men who dragged her to a nearby bush and raped her. A case of rape was reported at KwaDukuza SAPS for investigation.
Another woman was walking with her mother-in-law along a sugarcane field on 14 March 2103 when they were accosted by two unknown suspects who raped them.
The suspect has been linked to nine rape cases that were reported between 2013 and 2016.
Police had been looking for the suspects, and on Thursday, 9 October 2025, one suspect was arrested at a forest in KwaDukuza where he was hiding.
