A 35-year-old male suspect in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old Tzaneen TVET student.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday, 30 October 2025, at Percy Five outside Polokwane, after a warrant of arrest was executed.

On Friday, 14 February 2025, the victim, aged 26, was reportedly seen in the company of her boyfriend at his residence. Three days later, on 17 February 2025 at about 19:30, her lifeless body was discovered in a decomposed state inside the boyfriend’s bedroom.

The incident was reported to SAPS Maake, where a case of murder was opened.

The case was transferred to the Provincial Investigation Unit for further handling. The matter was thoroughly investigated and a warrant of arrest authorized, leading to the successful apprehension of the suspect.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has applauded the Provincial Investigation Unit and the Tracking Team for their relentless efforts in ensuring that justice is served.

“This arrest is a clear demonstration of our continued commitment to bring justice to victims and their families. We will never allow perpetrators of gender-based violence and brutal crimes to escape accountability,” said Major General Scheepers.

He is expected to appear before Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 31 October 2025, facing a charge of murder.

Police investigations are continuing.
