Preliminary reports suggest that the owner of the house reported the matter to an individual who then informed the Mayor’s husband. The husband went to report the matter at Dawnpark Police Station. African National Congress (ANC) Women’s League President, Sisisi Tolashe, has confirmed the safe return of Sedibeng executive mayor, Lerato Maloka. “She’s been found unharmed. She is alive. We praise God for that. We also really praise police who did their best to make sure that she and her driver were found unhurt,” Tolashe said. “We are calling to our men to make sure that they stand up. They stand with us to say no to gender-based violence and femicide. Men must take it upon themselves to protect their children, their women, their sisters, and their mothers. It can’t be right that women are being made to be targets of everyone else.”
