As the excitement of elections fills the air, Comedy Central and Nando’s are thrilled to announce a one-of-a-kind celebration of South Africa’s 30 years of democracy. Get ready to laugh, reminisce, and witness the burns as these two brands, known for funny, prepare to fire up ‘DemoCrazy: A Roast of South Africa’.

Picture this; a gathering of South Africa’s finest comedians and special guests, all coming together to deliver a legendary grilling of our beautiful democracy. Manning the tongs, you will find Kagiso Lediga whose creative direction promises an evening of uproarious laughter and heartfelt reflection.

In the upcoming ‘DemoCrazy: A Roast of South Africa’, Comedy Central and Nando’s are channeling our nation’s penchant for perseverance and resilience into a format that celebrates our journey with humour and heart (and just a sprinkle of Mzansi cynicism). Set against the backdrop of a nation marked by both Springbok triumphs and Bafana tribulations, this comedy variety show is not just entertainment; it’s a testament to our ability to laugh in the face of adversity and find strength in our shared experiences.

Dillon Khan, Vice President of Comedy Central, shares his excitement about this partnership with Nando’s, a brand that shares Comedy Central’s dedication to embracing life’s humorous truths. “Together, we’ll bring the flames and the funny,” says Khan. “And with Kagiso, who brought us The Pure Monate Show, Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola and The Bantu Hour, at the helm, we’re confident that this show will capture the authentic spirit of Mzansi.”

Speaking from the heart, Kagiso Lediga of Diprente says, “I’m very excited by this, I’ll never miss an opportunity to poke fun at this amazing, complicated and crazy country. South Africa is the comedy gift that keeps giving and this show will be a celebration of that.”

Adding to the excitement, Nontobeko Sibiya from Nando’s expresses their enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We’re a brand that is passionate about South Africans, and cares about the same things they care about. We are thrilled to be a part of something that celebrates our collective wins and also chuckles at some of the bloopers. DemoCrazy: A Roast of South Africa promises to be a hilarious celebration of our nation’s quirks and complexities. ”

‘DemoCrazy: A Roast of South Africa’ will be recorded live on Wednesday, May 22nd at 19:00 at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City Casino and be aired on Comedy Central DStv 122 at a later date. Limited tickets, starting from R150, are available through

By daring to poke fun at ourselves and embracing the craziness that defines us, ‘DemoCrazy’ will aim to celebrate the resilience of the South African spirit. It’s a reminder that even in our darkest moments (loadshedding and all), laughter has the power to unite us and shine a light on the path forward.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of laughter, nostalgia, and celebration as we honour the past 30 years of South African democracy, one joke at a time.
