He was once an award-winning, overachieving athlete. But after serving nearly nine years of his sentence of 13 years and five months before being released into the care of his uncle Arnold Pistorius under strict parole conditions.
Blade runner Oscar Pistorius has been reported to be sweeping church floors as part of his parole conditions at the NG Kerk Waterkloof. He has been described by church members who have seen him, as sad and never once cracked a smile.
Pistorius was convicted for shooting his then 29-year-old girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp four times with his licensed 9mm Parabellum pistol through a locked toilet door in his Pretoria home at Silver Woods Country Estate on Valentine’s Day in 2013. He said, he suspected a robber had invade the home. The trial took six months before he was sentenced.

In an exclusive, New York Post report, the fallen athlete reached out to at least two members of the International Paralympic Committee after his release, asking if they there were any opportunities available for him to possibly work.
Currently showing at Cape Town’s Artscape Arena Theatre is an opera production on the blade runners story. The Trial by Media opera, focuses on the murder trial and subsequently his arrest and release. Soloist and award-winning soprano Brittany Smith portrays Steenkamp, and Van Wyk Venter as Pistorius. Supporting cast includes Conroy Scott as the defence lawyer, Tylor Lamani as the prosecutor, Lusibalwethu Sesanti as the judge, and members of the Cape Town Opera chorus.
