Alleged 28 gang boss Ralph Stanfield who was arrested with his wife Nicole Johnson on several criminal charges on Friday 29 September, 2023 has left his “community” without a leader and is seeking a replacement as he remains in custody.

For the first time in almost 40 years, the alleged gang is left without a leader and has to see who might be next in line during his absence. A report by the Mail & Guardian implies that Stanfield’s former right-hand man, Jerome “Donkie: Booysen has turned state witness and might be next in line as the new boss. This is after a report that Stanfield’s empire might be crumbling after taking over from his alleged big-shot drug dealer Uncle Colin Stanfield.

Stanfield has allegedly been running the gang for years and did not expect to go behind bars. Stanfield, his wife Johnson, and two other suspects appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday 2 October 2023 but their case kept getting postponed. Accusations against them include assault, motor vehicle theft, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and robbery.

The community of Valhalla Park where Stanfield was the leader has been reported to have increased crime since his arrest as he was leader of a “bundu justice system” and “bundu court.” According to reports, a gang war might be looming over his territory
